Infographic: The average consumer spends $50k/year. Where does it all go?

I think it's common that people feel an affinity for starting businesses in the consumer sector. It's relevant to one's daily life. There's broad appeal. There's easy understanding of the needs, because we ourselves are consumers too.

Given that, this turns out to be a very valuable piece of data. If you want to make consumer services of any sort, you need to know how the pie is being sliced.

I am missing the main data:
and as it is a monthly statistic, I am more curious about the progression of each segment in order to find out the consumption trends progression today
Hope to read more out of those findings.
specially not about the "average" but more by segmentation of Incomes.

I am still surprised that Tobacco still represent 0.7%, 3 times more than reading, in a country where smoking has such a bad reputation.
for some location, Isn't it the same place where is sold press and tobacco?

Brilliant source anyway.

mint.com has some really interesting data on month-to-month and geographic breakdowns of spending.
